About

Dylan Hu

4th in the world at DECA ICDC 2026. Swept all five awards at Provincials. 2nd in Canada at FBLA.

The story

Competitor first, coach second

I've competed in DECA for three years, at every level there is — Regionals, Provincials, and the International Career Development Conference.

At ICDC 2026 I placed 4th in the world in Entrepreneurship Series, finishing as a Top 10 Finalist with two roleplay awards and a written award. At Provincials that year I earned all five awards on offer, and I picked up Top 10 and Top 20 distinctions at Regionals and Provincials across 2023 to 2026. In FBLA I placed 2nd at the Canadian National Leadership Conference, qualifying for the National Leadership Conference.

Competing is only half of it. As an executive in my school's DECA chapter I taught marketing strategy, ran finance cluster training, and helped run a chapter of more than eighty students. This year I coached three of them to ICDC qualification.

That combination is why I started Caselevate. Plenty of people have competed. Fewer have spent a year working out how to explain what they did to someone who hasn't done it yet.

The philosophy

Most DECA advice stops at the surface: know your performance indicators, dress sharp, smile. That gets you into the room. It doesn't get you out of it with a placing score.

Having taught a chapter of eighty-odd students, I've also learned that the thing holding someone back is rarely the thing they think it is. Most people arrive wanting to fix their delivery when the actual problem is how they're reading the case.

What I coach is the layer underneath — how judges actually allocate points, how to structure ten minutes of prep so you're not improvising, and how to recover when a role-play goes somewhere you didn't plan for. It's specific, it's learnable, and it's the difference between competitors who plateau at state and ones who don't.

It's also meant to be fun. You'll spend most of a session doing reps rather than being lectured at, because that's what actually transfers to the competition floor.
